East/West breakdown
« on: July 14, 2009, 10:10:56 am »
With the loss of Montevallo, will the GSC change?  As of now there are 8 teams on the West side and 6 on the East.
East: Alabama@ Huntsville

         N. Alabama
         Valdosta State
         W. Alabama
         W. Florida
         W. Georgia
West:
Arkansas at Monticello
Arkansas Tech
Christian Brothers
Delta
Harding
Henderson
OBU
Southern Ark

Of those not playing football are East:  Huntsville and W. Florida  West:  CBU. That leaves only 4 teams on the East that play football and 7 on the West.  East team plays 8 conference games

Divisions don't come into play with GSC football.

Everyone's wating on Lambuth to see if they'll be joining the GSC or not, then go from there.

Then again, West Georgia is considering moving up to FCS, so it seems the GSC's hands are tied.

West Georgia isn't moving up anytime soon - 3 to 4 years, at best. It is my understanding Lambuth is still committed for 2010-11, but whether they go belly up first is anyone's guess.

There is talk of North Alabama going Division 1 as well.  But the same situation as West Georgia.  3 to 4 years...
