Yep but you gotta know too this is a public forum about teams filled with teenagers so the rules are strict. Along with folks afraid to jump to conclusions sometimes. Even though I never posted this I thought back then this guy is done....why? Cause this was either related to covid or the unfortunate loss of a player due to heat illness. This guy was in a corner he couldn't get out of.

Either Covid or the tragedy, you CANNOT forge medical documentation. Just a messed up situation all the way around.

Will they keep the guy currently in charge, Simmons, or will they try to bring in someone fresh?
This will be a real interesting situation!
Piggott always seemed like a place that could have decent potential with the right guy to lead them.
Do they go with an experienced vet, or a younger guy that could bring some energy and fresh life to the program?
I'm not sure if there are any Piggott posters to give us insight or opinion on this one...

If the intermin guy wants it I say give it to him. He deserves any coach of the year award too.

Yes, it seems like he pulled the team back together.  Not an easy task.

Not sure if the interim would want the HC title... it's my knowledge that he came out of retirement to be a classified employee and a coach on the staff. I believe in order to be the HC he would have to become a full time, certified teacher or admin at the school. He may end up doing that, but he may also be enjoying his current gig.

It apparently is over documents lifting a quarantine on a player.

Only a matter of time before this happens and someone is caught.

Piggott needs to hang on to Simmons for a couple more years if possible. If not, Kyle Phillips and Will Daffron are hometown boys. Pretty sure Phillips coaches in the Russellville area as an assistant and Daffron is a head coach at a bottom dweller in Missouri. Not sure there are any good answers. Piggott is likely headed downhill quickly.

They may be better off trying to find someone younger that can come in and bring new life and energy to the program. It appeared to be trending upwards. Maybe someone who has been in the game for a few years but is ready to prove himself as a HC. That is the type of job I think Piggott should be if/when it does open up.
Nothing wrong with hiring older, near retirement guys. It works out well for some programs, but you are looking at a few years then searching again. That is typically the strategy for a program that has been down over recent years and needs someone to come in and build them back up quickly. Piggott is not in that situation. They would be better off to find a younger guy willing to stick around and kick off his HC career. Again, this is just an outsiders opinion.

Maybe them holding on to an experienced guy like Simmons as an OC and hire a young coach, or give Simmons the job and hire a young coordinator that can be groomed to take the reins when Simmons calls it quits.

Id say that sounds like the best solution.

Does Simmons want the Job?  I agree that they need to keep him.  If he doesnt, I hope the next guy tries to keep him.

The situation in Piggott has been awfully quiet. You would think if they were going to be looking for a new coach, they would have posted this job right after the new year. Maybe they stick with the guys they got. Maybe Simmons wants the HC job full time after all.

Last night the school board approved the hiring of Simmons to continue on as the head coach, a role he had been filling since shortly after their first game.
