After watching the powerhouse sports interview yesterday on Twitter, it looks like they are aren't following any guidelines set up by the AAA for covid-19. Zero distancing, and no masks on the coaches...smh. If you ain't cheating you aint trying...I suppose.

If they were outside they arenít required to wear masks, just strongly encouraged. Only inside are they required to wear masks

Straight from the AAA Website.  Doesn't look like 12 feet or 6 feet to me.

For close-contact sports, what are the most important items to consider?

Maintain 12 feet distancing while actively participating, 6 feet while idle, masks are encouraged when not actively participating.

So, answer this for me. If a team is able to practice, just like normal (pre corona), and other teams are following the guidelines set forth by the governing athletic body, that isn't an advantage?

Advantages:
More reps, more time to implement new stuff, more time to evaluate, more time to change stuff. I may be by myself on this one, but if you're not following the rules...you're cheating.

I know nothing about the Gurdon program but, heard this morning on a Louisiana radio station there are 17 (up from 10 a week or so ago) high school football programs under LHSAA (Louisiana's version of the AAA) investigation for possible COVID-19 related practice infractions.

Here's a penalty article from the Louisiana version of the ADG:
https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/news/coronavirus/article_e2840bd2-9895-11ea-8907-c3e6e30b4870.html

Oh, the radio station that reported this this morning said no school self-reported, all were turned in by another school and most had video evidence with their reporting.

That article mentions possible suspension from the LhSAA plus fines and what not....Just think if they took normal rule breaking that seriously...

Normal rule breaking usually doesn't involve a mortality rate.

Normal rule breaking usually doesn't involve a mortality rate.

A Mortality rate of .02% and majority of them are 80+ or people with major health problems.
Guidelines are recommendations not law.

Cheating for not following recommendations?

The likelihood of a high school athlete dying from COVID-19 is next to zero.  The likelihood of a high school athlete being infected, but showing no symptoms, and spreading the infection to somebody else who may not have an immune system as strong as that athlete's, is significantly higher.

There are families of over 100 Arkansans (and almost 3,000 Louisianians) who found the mortality rate to be 100% for their loved ones.

Being a keyboard warrior is one thing, having to make hard, real-life decisions about actions that could lead to anyone's death takes it to a whole different level.

The AAA and the governor have enacted RULES, not guidelines, for athletics. Somewhere in there I read that failure to follow them is an ethics violation by the coaches. They could lose their licenses.

Not following them is, in fact, cheating. If they are out there going wide open while other schools are restricted in what they can do, they have a huge advantage. Don't be blowing smoke.

It only takes the death of one athlete to cause major impacts on football, especially if that athlete was a  member of the team not following the rules.

Feels good to know I wasn't blowing this out of proportion. I mean if losing your license is worth getting in a few extra reps, hey go for it. If it was me, I believe I would be a little worried that every coach in the state has seen this video...

Iím going to pass on the Covid-19 talk. Iím tired of Rona, I work in the medical field and Iíve seen it up close and personal since it started, Iím glad to see the curve. Maybe humanity should stop creating viruses in a laboratory!
In regards to the video there is no form of ďcheatingĒ or wrong doing.  Iím not sure how anyone could draw that conclusion.
Maybe people should put down their measuring tapes so they donít blow things out of proportion. Iím sure itís pretty difficult to get an accurate measurement through a screen.

Discounting guidelines as recommendations AND making something out of nothing are both blowing smoke. A lot of smoke grenades in this thread.

Right off hand, the resistance bands with a player holding the bands. The spacing wasn't per requirements. The ladder drills were maybe the only drill that had spacing. The sleds were not spaced out 12 feet while the were being used, and the guy ran it right up to the next guy. The closer they are, the faster they can switch off,  the more reps they can get in. Of course this is a small clip of some of the things they were doing. Maybe they spaced out afterwards...

They willl be a good team with a chance of course ... threadgill neeeds yo get more physical . He eats up the weaker competition but two years in a row Iíve watched him run out of bounds before the line of scrimmage to avoid contact against the better teams . But if he does that he is a monster.

Looks like they dropped playing Harmony Grove this year. They just couldn't beat them once HG got their program going.
