I didn't want to be the first that said it, but since you did I am seriously worried we become to Kansas or Rutgers of the SEC for a while

Kansas actually won one of their conference games this year. Rutgers has a Big Ten Conference win more recently than Arkansas has an SEC Conference win (plus, beat Arkansas twice in the last decade). It's a long road ahead for whoever takes over.

The fanbase is already divided into....People like me, I check boxscores etc but don't care if I watch a game, people who have quit caring entirely, folks that are just angry(these are probably the true bleed razorback red fans), and those morons that get giddy watching the Hogs struggle but still buy gear and watch the games for some reason.

We are about to mark our permanent place below Vandy, especially of the rumors are true about a certain hire.

I punished myself watching Morris led teams after I said I wouldnít. But If the hire that the BOT and the boosters are pushing goes through Iím done with Hog football.

Media writing straight up hit pieces on coaches. Pumping up Arkansas guys. We needed a solid hire here. Doesnít look like that gonna happen. Hope Iím wrong

There are still basketball and baseball to root for.

And I know itís their money I just donít understand not wanting to open up and pay a darn good coach. I read that one booster was willing to give 40mil for academic building upgrades if we hire freaking Butch Davis.

You could get any coach in America with that kind of money

I am officially done with the Hogs.  Ole pee is literally 7 days from the dog peeing incident, and firing there coach, and they already got a decent coach.  Something is very wrong at Fayetteville, HY is definitely not calling the shots.  This team is probably doomed for a very long time.

Rumored 4.2 for Kiffin from OM. Obviously we arenít willing to pay and also rumors of winning clauses and morality clauses.

I mean it really is sad that we still do not have a coach. Really seems HY put all his eggs in one basket knowing he would be handcuffed by the money guys. He saw it during the basketball hire a little.

If he pulls off Harsin thatís a solid hire.

Drinkwitz is meh to me. One year HC though it was a good year. Would like someone with a longer track record.

Then we get down to no mans land.

Lunney is an absolute no for me. I like him just not as the head coach.

Butch Davis- while Iím not for him he would be kind of a stop gap. But I feel his buddies are just trying to cushion his retirement.

It aggravates me that our BOT and boosters canít get on the same page, or just flat out interfere with hires. Again I know itís their money but if you donít want the guy donít give your money.

For once pay for the guy. Always trying to go cheap. This crap seems to happen in most of our searches.

Of it ends up being Davis or Lunney Iím done with Hog football until someone new gets in. I wouldnít be surprised if HY moves on to the first opening he can get.

Lastly Iím not watching A&M build nothing. They are exactly where they will always be. And yeah Arkansas May always be in the bottom from now on but I ainít gotta watch either.

Mizzou did just win 6 games, is in the easier division of the conference, and has been relevant since we have. Their board of trustees is also meddling in the search tho

Yeah hearing Drinkwitz really wanted the job. Was coming but decided it just wasnít the right time.

We obviously struck out on all our other targets.

As for Pittman. Word is we started talking to him last Wednesday.

He can turn our OL around pretty quick. Can he get a top notch staff is going to be the question.

Bielema will hire another OL coach, but I don't think whoever he hires will fill Pittman's shoes. From a recruiting and coaching standpoint, there's not many coaches out there similar to him. There's a reason why Alabama tried to get him weeks after he came here.

I posted this about four years ago when Pittman left for Georgia. The offensive line really hasn't been the same since he left.

Oh you're watching alright!  And they'll be right there with LSU & Bama next year, even though their Heisman QB won't take over until 2021.  I understand Arkansas has a few more A&M culls coming through the Transfer Portal..  Boyd was a great pickup!

No I mean Iím physically not watching. Just the two games one win over Arkansas and the crushing by LSU.

But Jimbo and taking them nowhere. LSU and Bama arenít dropping much. All the top teams showed them the gap they have to close and they arenít closing the coaching gap. Jimbo is overpaid.

Bogus good just not very durable. Always banged up.

And you call them culls but have bragged on everyone of them coming in. Each one had more success when they left. Itís a team game though.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I saw this being tossed around social media:

Apparently, Kiffin had the job accepted last Wednesday. His agent called Arkansas and said Ole Miss was offering more money (they weren't) in an attempt to get more money from Arkansas. Arkansas pulled the offer, which left Kiffin with no option but to accept the Ole Miss offer.

Wouldn't shock me in the least if it were true. Pittman is a good hire. He will need great assistants to make it work May not be the long term guy but he should at least leave it in better shape for the next.

Well this is where the perception issue comes in to play(will get in to this shortly). Lets make no mistake this job fell into Pittman lap. I don't know if any of this is true but Mike Irwin, Otis and Biddy along with some others have stated this publically.

Arkansas approached Campbell and was told no thanks.

Arkansas approached Kiffin and made an offer. This fell through some how and we will never really know unless we get some true honesty from someone.

Arkansas when it started feeling the Kiffin thing was about to fall through started reaching out to other coaches and may have reached out to a few before Kiffin. Each one of those coaches rejected Arkansas, most on the intial phone call by what is out there. Its was thanks but no thanks.

Final push was Drinkwitz and Pittman. Drink and Arkansas couldn't come to agreement.

Pittman called before the job was even open, this has been said by Otis and Mike. Pittman wanted this job and loves Arkansas. We do not know how this will work out and there are huge questions.

Now to the perception of our job. It is that this is where coaches come to die. We have fickle fans and I'm one of them. We flew banners to run a coach off and we have fired 4 coaches in 7 years. By the way Ole Miss has fired 4 in 10 years but they have won recently, CHEATING, and we haven't.

But lets look at that 4 coaches in 7 years. BP brought his firing on himself, probably could have been kept bu tit was really a no win situation either way.

JLS, was a freaking interim but he was an idiot out in the press and was only hired due to the timing of the BP firing.

Bret on the surface was a good hire, he had 3 decent years and just missed out on them being good years and didn't capitalize on on those good years. His last half year and last year you could see something was wrong. Did he need fired, imo yes but how it was handled was not a good look.

Chad Morris was an absolute disaster and just the hiring of him was handled as poorly as the firing of Bret. the last two years with the losing has not helped the perception of the Arkansas job.

Arkansas is a tough job. It needs a coach willing to work and wants to be here for more than the money. That's just how I see things. I do feel our boosters and BOT are a little cheap. They may loosen up after all these buyouts are paid. Who knows.

Pittman fill a couple of areas. OL he will fix that for sure. You can be competitive with a good OL. Will have to see if he can get skill players. He wanted this job badly. As a few have said is can he put together a good staff and learn to coach. I thin he will fill a couple of spots with former HCs that are now back in to the coordinator spots. They need ot fully back him to get these guys. If not this is doomed from the get go.

Pittman says he will have most of staff in place by end of the week. Not sure who all hes getting yet. Hes told the players. Devin Bush has pulled his name out of the transfer portal.

Traylor is gone, looks like he got a coaching gig. BLJ I don't look for him to stay by the way Pittman talked.

Morris looking to go to auburn as OC, rumored. Saves us buyout money and hopefully he has as much success there as he did here offensively.

Wouldn't that be a trip, Morris joining Gus, on the "whatcha think about me now" train..

I think Morris is a good coordinator and probably a G5 coach. Probably a good fit with his buddy Gus.

Another reason I like Pittman hes moves us further from that Gus clan up on the Hill

This clan, you speak of, probably wishes Arkansas was the team that just beat Bama.  But I hear you - you want to move further from Gus.  I assure you every SEC West loss moves you further from Gus.  Hope Pittman does well.  He's starting out in a big hole - Arkansas has 6 total recruits for 2020 (3 star) and ranked #118 in the nation.  The rest of the SEC West has 20+, (50% 4 star).  I'm very to see if, when, and how Arkansas climbs out of this. He must know that win or lose, Hog Fans will eventually lynch him.  Good Luck Coach Pittman!   :o

Quite the paradigm shift from a Morris philosophy. Looking at Pittman's O lines from 2013-2015 gets me excited to get back to physical football. Morris had a 265 pound lineman starting at guard this year. Not a good recipe.

There is always enthusiasm with a new hire. How many of us were thrilled from watching Morris's first meeting with the team and thought he would be a success? Therefore, I am withholding judgement of this hire until I see what type of staff he assembles.

This is more of a low risk high reward offer looking at Pittman's contract. Granted, Pittman did not have much bargaining power. I think it could turn out well, but something has to give in the slaughterhouse that is the SEC west. We could improve drastically and still have a floor of 7-5 in this division.

Nonetheless, glad the search is over. Go hogs.

With Morris's first video, I had hope. I thought he might bring some "Clemson-type" recruiting and success.  Had no idea and no stats to back it up. Just hope.
With Pittman's first video, I have excitement.  He has plenty of evidence of being a quality coach and recruiter.

With that said, I still am unsure of how much success he will bring.  But for now, I have excitement and hope.  After he secures coordinators and the rest of the staff, I will determine where my excitement and hope levels come to rest.    7-5 or 8-4 average with some big years is what Houston Nutt brought.  I can live with that.  After being in the cellar for so years, I just long for some success quickly.  Beat the cupcakes next year.  6 wins the following year.  Big bowl games by year 4.   Anything which exceeds that will be reason to fully embrace Pittman for years to come.

But for now, let's secure a great staff.

Gus helped give us Chad, he's screwed us at every turn and if we hired him I assure I was done with Hog football. Yeah I'm sure that springdale bunch would love it they refuse to see the harm he's done even though its right in front of their face. I wouldn't care if he won a title here.

I don't anyone is going to lynch Pittman. May want him fired eventually. If he wins he will be a hero here.

We are about to add more recruits, got work to do. Pulled Devin Bush back form the transfer portal. Looks like we are about to flip Jacolby Criswell. I'm not going to continue this recruiting thing with you. Said multiple times it needs to get better. Hopefully Pittman does just that.

We wont climb out anytime soon, long road ahead and I think folks know that. Right now we just have to get out of the ditch so to say.

And this clan is willing to pay whatever it takes to get Gus here and not pay for any other coach out there. They do not care about Arkansas. Just their boy Gus. He doesn't care for this job, this state or the fans in it.

Hes a good coach but hes treated this program and state like a stepchild.

And dang Drinkwitz goes to the podium and reads the exact some speech he read when hired at App State. think he even said he was going to win the Sunbelt conference. I haven't seen it just read it.

Id much rather have a guy come in and at least be genuine.

though I wanted Kiffin I don't think he would have been or really any of the other coaches they looked at. Its obvious they didn't want this job. I'm fine with that.

Ill back Pittman because for the simple fact hes bought in. Mussleman looks bought in. Those are guys I can get behind.

Morris was never bought in at all and the stories are coming out. Turns out he was the fragile one.

And Pitt Boss turns this thing in to a winner you better believe you are gonna hear it.
