Class 4A-3A-2A Playoff Scenarios after Week 8
« on: October 26, 2014, 08:35:28 pm »
Note: In 4A-3A-2A, 5 teams go to the playoffs

Class 4A
4A-1

Pea Ridge and Shiloh Christian (both 5-0) are a week away from a Week 10 showdown for the top 2 seeds. Prairie Grove and Gravette are 3-2 while Gentry is 2-3. Still as battle as to where the 3-through-5 seeds are going to fall.

4A-2
Newport and Helena-West Helena are each 4-1. Central Arkansas Christian, Stuttgart and Heber Springs are all 3-2 while Lonoke is 2-3. Next week’s games will make the scenarios here a little clearer.

4A-3
Pocahontas (5-0) is the 1 seed and outright conference champion with a win at Highland (4-1). A Highland win over Pocahontas however would create a likely 3-way tie with Gosnell 4-1. Jonesboro Westside (3-2), Cave City (2-3) and Trumann (2-3) are fighting for the final 2 playoff spots.

4A-4
Dardanelle (5-0) is the top seed with a win over Dover (4-1). Should Dover win, there would be a 3-way tie with Clinton (4-1). Pottsville is 3-2 and Pulaski Robinson is 2-3, but nothing has been clinched for the bottom 2 seeds.

4A-7
This is arguable the most competitive 4A Conference in the state. Nashville and Malvern are both 4-1 and meet this week. The winner is the likely top seed. Arkadelphia, Mena and Fountain Lake are 3-2 while Bauxite is not eliminated at 2-3. This week should clear things up … a little.

4A-8
Warren (5-0) has the inside track to the conference title, but must play Hamburg (4-1) and Dollarway (4-1) in consecutive weeks. Crossett and Star City are both 3-2 and both will meet on Week 10 for the likely 4-5 seeds.

Class 3A
3A-1

The five seeds are set – West Fork (5-0), Mountain View (4-1), Greenland (4-1), Elkins (3-2) and Green Forest (3-2). West Fork can win the conference with a win over Greenland in Week 10. If Greenland wins, that could force a 3-way tie with Mountain View.

3A-2
Harding Academy and Mayflower (both 5-0) will play for the top seed Friday with the loser being the likely 2 seed. Bald Knob, Barton and Marianna are all 3-2. Barton has the easier schedule, but this week will clear up the standings a bit.

3A-3
Osceola leads at 5-0, but Hoxie and Rivercrest are both 4-1. The Seminoles and Colts play on Week 10 and a Rivercrest wins forces a 3-way tie. Melbourne is 3-2 while Manila is 2-3.

3A-4
Charleston and Booneville (both 5-0) play for the top 1-2 seeds Friday. Lamar (3-2) has the inside track to the 3 seed while Lavaca, Danville and Paris (all 2-3) are fighting for the final 2 spots. The bottom two spots will be a little clearer after this week’s games.

3A-5
Prescott (5-1) (5-0) is the 1 seed with a win either in Week 9 or Week 10. Benton Harmony Grove and LR Episcopal Collegiate (both 4-1) are playing for the 2-3 seeds Friday. Bismarck, Jessieville and Centerpoint are all 2-3 have will have to win out to earn a postseason berth.

3A-6
Smackover and McGehee (both 5-0) play for the top seed Friday. Fordyce is 4-1 so if McGehee wins Friday and Fordyce beats McGehee in Week 10, then a 3-way tie for first and a tiebreaker will be needed. Camden Harmony Grove and Fouke (both 3-2) have the inside track for the final 2 seeds.

Class 2A
2A-3

Cross County (5-0) leads, but must beat Earle in Week 10 to get the top seed. A loss to Earle (4-1) could create a 3-way tie with East Poinsett County (4-1). Marked Tree (3-2) and Walnut Ridge (2-3) are in the mix for the last two seeds.

2A-4
Hector (7-0) has wrapped up the top seed. Mountainburg (5-2), Hackett (4-2) and Union Christian (4-2) all are battling for the 2 seed while Western Yell County has the inside track for the final berth.

2A-5
Conway Christian (5-0) can win the top seed with a win Friday over Magnet Cove (4-1). A Magnet Cove win, however, likely creates a 3-way tie with Conway Christian and Poyen (4-1). England (3-2) has the inside track to the fourth seed while Bigelow and Cutter Morning Star (both) 2-3 battle for the fifth seed.

2A-6
Hazen (6-0) wins the top seed with a win over the next two games. Des Arc (5-1) is the likely second seed while McCrory (5-2) has the inside track to the 3 seed, though a loss to Carlisle (3-3) in Week 10 could give the Bison that spot. Brinkley and Clarendon (3-3) are also in the playoff mix as well.

2A-7
Mount Ida and Gurdon (both 5-0) meet this week. If Gurdon wins, then the Go-Devils are the 1 seed. Should Mount Ida win, it they has to also beat Lafayette County (4-1) in Week 10 to win the title or a 3-way tie will likely ensue. Dierks and Murfressboro (both 2-3) have the likely inside track to the 4-5 seeds. The two teams will meet in Week 10.

2A-8
Junction City (6-0) can wrap up the league title with a win over Woodlawn (4-1). Rison (4-1) and Bearden (4-2) are in the mix for the 2 seed if Junction City wins. Strong (2-4) is the fifth seed with a win over Rison Friday, but a loss opens the door to Parkers Chapel (1-4), which finishes the season with Heritage Hermitage (1-4) and Hampton (0-6).

Cross co. Still gets top seed as long as epc doesn't stumble and they don't lose to Earle by more than 12 points.

I don't understand how the points work cc beat EPC 36-8 and EPC beat earl by 2 points so how would we not get top seed unless earl blows cc out like they did EPC assuming EPC don't trip up

13 is the most points you can get for a conference win. Cc has 78 Earle 65 epc 54. Points only affect 3 way tie to eliminate team with least amount of points. After that the two remaining teams are determined by head to head. Cc will still get number one seed if they lose by 2 or less. That is if epc beats WR.
